Fort Laudedale Real Estate Owners Beware

As Fort Laudedale Realtors it has recently been brought to our attention that a mass mailing has gone out to Fort Lauderdale Real Estate owners, in both single family homes and condominiums that in our opinion is very much a scam. I am confident that this mailing reaches way beyond the South Florida area but did want to bring it to the attention of our readers who own property in Fort Lauderdale.

The letter and envelope start off with things like “Official Court Document”, “Certified Record Retrieval”, and the call of urgency “ No other notice will be sent”, and of course the opportunity to purchase a certified copy of your deed for $50.00 plus postage. Most likely you received a certified copy of your deed along with your title policy a few weeks after closing and hopefully put it in a safe place. Now may be a good time to check. If you did not however, or can’t find it, you can still sell your home without the original copy and any title company can take care of it just prior to closing. If you wish to address this today call the title company that did the closing and see what they will charge to issue you a new copy of the recorded deed.

In addition you can visit Broward County records on line to confirm that everything on your original deed was recorded correctly, if you have any questions you can certainly reach out to the title company, attorney’s office or your real estate agent that was involved in your closing. If you are thinking of selling you home in South Florida remember the team at Eric Miller and Associates is ready to interview for the job as your Fort Lauderdale Realtor.
