More about Cities around Fort Lauderdale

Wilton Manors

Wilton Manors is a city just north of Fort Lauderdale, and just south of Oakland Park. It is as a diverse community, as is the inventory of Wilton Manors real estate. From unattached homes to condos, you can find inventory that includes waterfront homes, the newest and coolest of luxury townhomes, to just a small condo perfect for a weekend retreat.

Wilton Manors real estate has received a great deal or media attention as the city proudly has one of the largest gay populations per capita in the nation, this once depressed city is in full transition with new construction townhomes, and new homes. Average homes start in the mid to high 200s and increase quickly as you look at newer construction. For a small city, Wilton Manors offer a diverse inventory of homes for sale, from older Florida ranches, to two story Georgians. As we have seen our market stabilize it’s a great time to purchase!

Oakland Park

Oakland Park is a city west of US 1 and continues just west of Interstate 95. The real estate market in Oakland Park includes starter homes, luxury larger homes, and everything in between. The city contains many smaller communities such as Coral Heights, and Lloyd Estates all of which have their own personality. Very centrally located, Oakland Park has become an option to many buyers priced out of other neighborhoods just to the east.

Real estate in Oakland Park really started to flourish as the city became very progressive in helping area developers with changed zoning laws to promote redevelopment in its downtown area. Downtown Oakland Park is anchored by a new city hall, giving the area a fresh new feeling.

Pompano Beach

Pompano Beach is a city north of Fort Lauderdale. The market in Pompano Beach generally commands prices which are lower than their counterparts in Fort Lauderdale but all this could change as the city moves foward on a major beach redevlopement project. The beach area of the city is primarily high rises condos, including the beautiful new Oceanside condominium development, just across from Pompano Beach.

Condos along the Pomano Beach shoreline are a more affordable housing option than similar properties that can be found along other south florida beaches and yet the city is in very close proximity to both Fort Lauderdale and Hillsboro to the north. Over the years the city has lacked the draw and prestige of its neighboring cities, but as redevelopment takes hold, the future is bright for the City of Pompano Beach.

Sea Ranch Lakes

Sea Ranch Lakes is a city in itself with its own police force and beach. The real estate in this community is comprised of non-waterfront homes (referred to as dry-lots) starting in the $700,000 range.

Waterfront homes in Sea Ranch Lakes can easily exceed $2 million. It is the only true gated community located east of the intracoastal and a very affluent neighborhood of larger than average homes. The community maintains an oceanfront clubhouse for residents.

Weston

Weston is a city whose name has become synonymous with "great schools" and large homes. It is a planned community, very suburban in design, located about 45 minutes west of Fort Lauderdale.

Weston homes are usually newer than ones found further east. The community is also home to the beautiful Cleveland Clinic Hospital, which formerly located east, on one of the hottest pieces of Fort Lauderdale real estate. The former site is now the home of the Sapphire Condominium.
